Heritage Raspberry is the best of the so-called overbearing raspberries and the most popular variety among home gardeners. It produces a heavy crop in mid-July, then another crop in late August and September on new canes from the ground. You can even harvest your raspberries in the first year of planting. It has sweet, dark red berries that you can eat fresh, can, freeze, or make jams and jellies. Unlike most raspberry plants, this one is self-supporting; however, it prefers well-drained sites.
